A few years ago I saw an ad in a magazine with this caption:
It's easy to see what is, it takes vision to see what could be.
It struck me as being incredibly profound at the time and I put the saying on my wall. Why is it so profound? The way I see it (pun intended), most people all around the world are involved in the basic act of seeing things as they show up. Some people are really out of it and don't even see what's happening in front of their eyes at times but most can recognize something as it happens or after the fact (hindsight is 20/20). The challenge is to see something before it happens. That's what we call VISION.
Vision is great because of two main reasons:
1. Avoiding painful/negative circumstances
2. Embracing joyful/positive oportunities and experiences
When you can see farther ahead, you can prepare yourself better for what's coming.
This can be applied in a myriad of ways, for example, with the economy (sure it might drop for a while but it will rise again and higher than before - are you ready for now and for then?), with exercise & health (if you follow through with your plan, how will you really look and feel?) and with interactions with people. When seeing them you have the physical characteristics of the person, the way they make you feel and a certain knowledge of their past and accomplishments. With vision however, you see past their visible exterior and cloak of fear into their soul. You feel everything that they could be, do and have if they allow themselves to awaken to the god within. This allows you to realise that they are you and you are them. Our exteriors are different and varied but at the very deepest level we have the very same core from which our personality is built around.
But if that seems too profound for you at this moment, let's look at the wheather!
This week in Edmonton, we had a fierce blizzard. Temperatures dropped from 23 Celcius last weekend and wearing shorts and sandals to nearly -20 this week with the windchill and putting on our tuques and mittens. Talk about climate change!
What I hear on the radio and all around me is people complaining. We live in Alberta. Drastic wheather changes are common, so why all the complaining? Well, this is an example of people only seeing what's in front of their face. If they exercised their vision, they would hold the image of sunny skies and green grasses in their minds and patiently prepare for the true arrival of spring.
When people are surprised by something that happens or can happen it means that they were not using their vision.
Always see farther and deeper than the darkened skies or empty pockets of the moment. LIVE fully in the moment, letting go of needing to change it, AND allow the wonderful experiences flowing to you to come into and THROUGH your reality without resisting them.
If your far-seeing vision tells you of some kind of impending calamity, gently (or fiercely - if need be) move onto a path leading to a healthier and more positive outcome. It's pretty simple as long as you are aware...
Fix your sight upon a star and you will always find your way.
