Dark Adaptability

I just saw the new Batman movie "The Dark Knight" and really have to say that it is one of the best movies of the genre that I have ever seen. No kidding.

And Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker will have chills running down your spine... it feels that real sometimes.

Go see it. It's worth it.

Anyway, two of the ideas that kept coming back during the movie were those of having no rules and being adaptable to circumstances.

They tie in to each other so I'll treat them as one concept here.

First there's Batman.

Throughout the movie he has to adapt and evolve according to whatever circumstances arise. His main concern is to do what's best for Gotham City. And the Dark Knight is ready and willing to do whatever is necessary to achieve it. He is ready to play whatever role he must play. To rise or fall with the tide of the times. To be perceived as the hero, or the villain. Why? Because it is what his path requires. He chose his life, now he does whatever is necessary, adapting and evolving as things change. Because he can handle it. He is strong enough. And because those who evolve constantly are those that survive. Those that resist change shrivel up, burn up and die. In all industries, notice who has been at the top for the longest and it will always be those who can evolve and adapt to the changing times. This is what Batman does.

Then there's the Joker.

To get to Batman, the Joker had to be infinitely creative. To get close to someone powerful if they don't want to see you is difficult, to say the least. For that, you have to think outside of the box, or cube, and allow your mind to expand. This is how you find your solutions. It also helps if you have fun doing it.

Now, the Joker, being obviously insane, has no trouble thinking out of the box because he never even enters the box, he just tosses it around and plays with it... enjoying seeing the pain and horror in others. So this is a perfect example of how you can learn good things from anyone... even the freakiest of them all (disclaimer: learn from everyone and everything but use it for good. Do not use what you learn to hurt others in any way).

Which brings me to my next point. Heath Ledger.

Here is an example of mastery in acting. He took on the role of the Joker so well, ingrained it so deeply in his cells that during his performances he wasn't acting as the Joker... he was the Joker. He saw the role he was meant to play and he became that character. He adapted to the circumstances and evolved/transformed himself into the role to best achieve his goal of a masterful performance. That's what true actors do. The key, however, is to be able to let go of previous roles as times change, to be able to take on new ones. Adaptation.

"That's great," you say, "but what do I care? I'm not an actor". My friend, I beg to differ.

All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players:
They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts,
His acts being seven ages.

- William Shakespeare's As You Like It, 1600

You see, as Shakespeare noted it long ago, the world we live in is a stage where we each play our parts, falling into and out of different roles throughout our lives. We all secretly hope for a chance at the spotlight before our light goes out after our brief experience on Earth.

So let me ask you: what roles do you currently play?

What roles are others asking you to play in their lives?

What roles are you asking others to play in your life?

If this life was a movie, what type of character would you want to play?

Ask yourself these questions now (go ahead, just for a minute) and be very honest. Is the part you are playing the part you want to be playing? If it is, are you playing it to the best of your ability? Are you being the best mom, architect, coach, son, grandpa, leader, artist, etc. that you can be? If not, how can you adapt and evolve into the greatest that you can be?

Are you flexible, moldable, adaptable, coachable?

Or do you refuse to take an honest look at yourself and find a way to change whatever's bothering you?

Can you surrender your fear and finally allow yourself to become what your soul actually knows you can be, instead of thinking about how hard it would be to try to change? Once you DECIDE to change to be more of the powerful and beautiful being that you really are, you'll find that things really aren't that hard to do... but you do have to DO them.

There are no rules as to who we can be or what we can achieve.

All that is needed is a vision for the desired end result and a commitment to learning, adapting and evolving ourselves and the roles we play according to the needs of the continually changing circumstances of the world around us.

Take a moment to remember that next time when you enjoy the experience of The Dark Knight and it's dark, adaptable characters.

From the deepest darkness of your soul can come the brightest light of evolutionary drive.
Reclaim your power.

Sing the Song and Smile

How can you feel really good right now?

Don't worry.

I like to keep things super simple (so there's less chance of screwing up) and the simplest way to feel good is not to worry... about anything.

IMPOSSIBLE you say?

Well, well. This could mean an argument now could it? Hmm... You know what? You are absolutely right. It IS impossible. I'm just not going to worry about it.

Hehe...

What do you mean that's not fair? I can choose not to worry if I don't want to worry can't I? I mean, if I really decided that I'm not going to worry about anything, no matter what happens, then who in the entire world can make me worry? No one. Wow... I feel amazing just saying that right now...

What do you mean "dying"?

Umm... oh, you almost had me there! I started to worry again... but I'm not going to worry about it! Why not? Because just because I don't worry doesn't mean that I don't do anything. I know that if I or my loved ones are threatened in any way, I will do whatever I can to protect them and my own life... I can fight like a maniac and rip eyes out of their sockets if need be... but I won't worry about it. And if it does happen, I will do what I must do and not worry about it as I do it....

Hey, I can learn everything I need to learn to be ready in pretty much ANY situation in life and learn it all in a healthy and positive way, so why worry about it? If you like scaring yourself into action then go right ahead. I, however, prefer to explore the fun route while still developing the power and wisdom to handle ALL of life's challenges.

Once again, don't worry.

If you watch the news everyday (and only the news), you would think that the world is a horrible place to be and at any moment we could be robbed, beaten, killed, lose all our money, and a million other things. That's just one perspective, one designed to sell to those who are addicted to fear.

Look around you more and notice that the true balance shifts to better things when your mind is on better things. What we see on tv or in the papers is not the whole truth. It is only a sliver. Do not take the sliver for the whole. There is much more going on in the world.

And no matter what happens, it all works out for the best in the end... if you just go with it.

Fail here, succeed there... insult someone here, attract someone there... as long as you don't worry you'll be able to find the lesson and the opportunity in every situation and grow into the greatest that you can be.

Sometimes things take time. Be patient, keep learning and continue moving forward.
Soon you will surprise even yourself with all that you are.

You are much greater than you have allowed yourself to be.

Do not hold back any longer.

Set your true Self free.

Decide not to worry and no one can force you to be any different. In this way, you have ALL the power. Feels good, doesn't it?

...

Don't worry. Be happy.
Go ahead... sing the song and smile.

Do You Have Any Limits?

Many talk about thinking big and doing great things and having no limits at all... but is it really true?

Or should we be more realistic in terms of what we can really be, or do, or have?

The answer you receive to these questions will depend on who you ask.

Let me be as brutally honest as I can be in this moment... and hopefully you can be just as brutally honest with yourself as you read this.

So here is the brutal truth, swallow it if you can, revisit it later if it's too much for you right now:

You are exactly where you are because of who you have been. Who you are being now, is taking you to where you will be next. If you like where you are going, keep going. If you want more, you must first BE more.

Now, what the bleep does that mean?

In simple terms, it means that we have the potential inside of us to become ANYTHING we desire.

We have the potential to unleash so much power and wisdom that there really are NO limits to what we can achieve.

Notice I used the word "potential".

Why?

Because it's not just something we are given. Yes, it's ours to use, but we must make a choice and reclaim our power! If we wait for the power to come to us, we will wait forever. We must want it, desire it, look for it inside of ourselves and proclaim that "YES!" we are ready and we accept it.

Think about that for a second.

If you were to take a few deep, relaxing breaths right now (go ahead...I'll wait) and allow your mind to look deep inside of yourself for a moment... what do you find? Deep peace and an ocean of love of such extraordinary immensity that all the oceans of the world could not equal it's power. For the true, extraordinary power that can never be equalled lies dormant inside of each and every one of us... we just walk around clueless to this fact and searching everywhere to answer the call for more that actually comes from deep within.

Now what if you took a second to look deep inside... stare straight into the darkness of that immense ocean of the power of life inside of you... stood up straight and said "I'm ready now".
If you did that, if you said that - and meant it - the floodgates would open in your body and mind and the full power of your spirit would come crashing in.

You would never be the same... and nothing would ever hold you back.

Does that sound good?

Yeah, well, most people would have too much fear to even attempt this little journey to the center of their soul. I highly recommend it, and am exploring it myself at the moment, but for a more "ease yourself into it" type of practice, give Ho'oponopono at try.

Ho o... what?

It's an old Hawaiian practice that allows you to pretty much heal yourself and the entire world you experience simply by putting yourself into a state with no limits.

How?

Simply by repeating to yourself a mantra until you feel better, which means that you cleared yourself of the block that was causing you to feel constricted in some way. When you clean or clear that space within yourself, you make it much easier to create what you want in the world because there is nothing in you now holding you back.

Pretty cool, eh?

Anyway, here's the basic mantra:

"I'm sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you. I love you."

Doesn't sound too powerful? Well, if you try it, you will see for yourself. Most of the time, it's what's inside of us that hold us back from what we want. Once we forgive ourselves and feel good about ourselves, the rest takes care of itself. There's a lot more to it than this, a therapist actually healed an entire ward of criminally insane patients using this method... without personally seeing any of them!

But if you want to learn more, get this book:

Zero Limits by Joe Vitale

It'll blow your mind.

P.S. In the picture are a couple of forks I bent together as I was practicing opening to my unlimited power.
