A very wise man once said that if an ordinary person had access to all of his/her true power as a spiritual being, that person would most likely destroy the world.
Anyone who has heard about the Law of Attraction eventually realizes that it does not matter whether it is used for 'good' or for 'evil'. It is a Law, like gravity, which acts equally no matter what kind of a person you are. So whether you use your power to attract peace, like Gandhi, or to create war, like Hitler, the Law works the same way in all cases. You attract/create for yourself a reality that matches your vibrational frequency. In other words, we become what we think and believe.
So what about fun?
Isn't it more fun to "crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of the women" as they claim in Conan The Barbarian, than to make peace?
For many, the answer would be "yes". Hence the allure of the "dark side" and its seemingly total freedom from all restrictions or contra-indications. In the Star Wars movies, the Sith are always tempting confused Jedi with promises of hidden knowledge and forbidden secrets. The Emperor is forever telling Luke Skywalker that he must harness his anger and only then will he know the true power of the dark side.
But is that in any way true? In the movies, Master Yoda answered that the dark side was not stronger. What about in the 'real' world?
Well, to come back to the reference about the very wise man, we are all very, very, very, very, very, very... (ad infinitum) much more powerful than any of us has ever been able to fully comprehend, much less express.
As so many have taught before, we are basically UNLIMITED in potential power.
Notice that I wrote "potential" power. This is important. In theory (metaphysical/spiritual, and more and more Quantum scientific theory), we can all be, do, and have absolutely anything we can imagine. Do you want to fly like a bird or like Superman? You can. Do you want a trillion dollars? Go ahead. Do you want a nice, cold, beer? Get up off your a** and get one!
The point is that in theory, we are gods. In practice... well, why aren't we gods?
Think about this for a second. If that high-strung co-worker of yours could harness the power to fart lighting bolts at precise targets, what do you think they would do with it when they are having a "bad day"? Nothing? No, those lighting bolts would be hitting targets right, left and center. And what if we could all manifest such powers? The world would be one giant battle-ground and the battle would last all of half-a-second before the entire planet would be destroyed.
You probably also heard about Indian Yogis or Saints or the like, demonstrating special powers (siddhis) or miracles. And then saying that these things (like levitation, healing and 'psychic' abilities) are totally natural and available to all of us. Upon closer examination, do you know what else these 'Masters' all have in common? They are calm, content, and deeply loving of all life... otherwise known as "enlightened".
It seems to me like this is more than a coincidence.
The people with the most extraordinary personal power in the world, also being the least likely to use it to destroy? My, my, my. Could it be? Could there be a failsafe mechanism to this infinite universe so that only true unconditional love unlocks the door to the unlimited power that is our birthright?
In the works of Dr. David Hawkins, consciousness is calibrated on a power scale from 1 to 1000. Anything that is life-negating scores very low on the scale, and the more something or someone is life-affirming, the higher the power available. In other words, learn to love like Jesus loved, and you shall have the same power that he did. The only catch here is that if you try to love like Jesus just to get the same powers, it will never work. To pretend to love to get power would mean you could still use that power to destroy. Your entire being must resonate truthfully with the infinite power of love.
Then, you too can be a god.
And that is why the 'dark side' can never be stronger. Only Unconditional Love can unlock our true infinite power.

Be Like Bruce

"Knowledge in martial arts actually means self-knowledge... to me, ultimately, martial arts means honestly expressing yourself."
- Bruce Lee
"It is not daily increase but daily decrease; hack away the unessential."
"When one has reached maturity in the art, one will have a formless form. It is like ice dissolving in water. When one has no form, one can be all forms; when one has no style, he can fit in with any style."
- Bruce Lee
I've always admired the great Bruce Lee for his physical power and energy, and for his mastery and insight of martial arts. His books and movies have been a great source of inspiration over the years. And his influence doesn't stop there.
When you read his words, or watch him act and teach it soon becomes apparent that this man was on a path to enlightenment. The great martial artist studied philosophy in college. He dove into oriental teachings, self-improvement, physical training, and mysticism. He meditated. And he developed his body, his mind, and his spirit by seeking the highest levels of mastery in combat. Not only were his actions powerful, his thoughts reverberated with deep wisdom as well. Bruce was constantly using Taoist and Zen-like examples when explaining himself.

Bruce Lee believed that every one of us was unique, and therefore we could not adopt a pre-fabricated style or technique to suit our needs. In the beginning, we learn what is already out there, explore, and experiment. There is no need to reinvent the wheel. Yet our true mission is to find ourselves. It is our duty to find better ways to suit our purpose. It is all about finding personal freedom of expression while still being able to learn from everyone and everything around you. In other words...
Use what works for you; discard the rest.
This has been one of my central beliefs for years. It is one of my most powerful beliefs. Why? Because it has worked for me. We cannot use everything. We cannot be everything. We can, however, be anything. Find what you want, what you desire, what works for you. Discard the rest. Do not waste your time or your money trying to please everyone and doing it all. Choose your path. Then walk it. You can be great. You can be more than anyone has ever imagined. As long as you be like Bruce.
He often talked about the importance of being like water. Fluid. Formless. Flowing. Be like Bruce. Be like water.
Go with the shape that works for you.
Be yourself.

Now And Forever
One of the greatest causes of failure and distress in the world is a lack of vision. And as it says in the Old Testament, "without vision, the people perish". So much has gone wrong because there was no vision to guide those who had power.
How do we address this issue on a practical level?
We do it by moving from short-term, to long-term thinking.
When we operate from a short-term mindset we want fast food, fast cures, fast changes, fast cars, fast clothes... The typical fast-food nation. Instant gratification. This is what gets us into a whole lot of trouble.
Think long-term.
If you continue what you are doing now, where will that take you in 10 years?
If you start doing something now, where will that take you in 10 years?
Switching from short-term thinking to long-term thinking is incredibly powerful when shaping your future. Yes, have short-term goals for the hour, the day, the week, the month, the season. Also make goals for the year and work to achieve them. And plan for 5, 10, 20, 50 years ahead.
Why not? You don't know how long you'll live. It might be one more day or another 50 years or more. So, as the great saying goes:

Plan like you will live forever, and live like it is your last day on earth.
Embodying this paradox as a way of life is the ultimate road to greatness, in my eyes. And once you start to live this way, you will enjoy every moment, while moving towards an ever greater and increasingly fulfilling reality.
By combining a keen awareness of the present moment, of the NOW, with planning for a very long time, you become unstoppable. Nothing can stop whoever understands the nature of life and change. It is also about understanding the nature of compound interest. Compound interest is not just for money. It is for everything. Little things you do and practice now, add up and compound over time. Start practicing the guitar today and your skills will add up and compound over the next few months and years. As long as you start by laying the foundations and add to it consistently, you will hardly recognize yourself in ten years. You'll look back and marvel at how far you have gone.
This is true whether your goals include learning a new language, developing a new skill, mastering your money or becoming someone that you have always dreamed of being.
Look at where you are now, and where you ultimately want to be by the end of your life here. Then, as best as you can, make a plan that will take you where you want to be. This is your LIFE we are talking about here, you may or may not get another chance (depending on your beliefs), so make this one worth it. Plan your life and live your plan. Now, and Forever.

Prime The Pump

What do you do when you have to write something and you don't know what to write?
You start writing.
Get your thoughts on paper or computer by opening the flow with whatever is there. Just like I'm doing right now. Unless you are in meditation or some kind of trance, there are always thoughts moving around in your head. So start by writing whatever's there.
Have you ever seen an old water pump?
Well, to get water you have to work that lever arm. You grab the handle and you start moving it up and down. At first nothing comes out, and you just keep pumping. Then, as the air pressure builds up, the water inside the well rises up higher and higher. You can't see it but you know it's coming. You might even hear it as it comes closer and closer to the surface. Then, a little bit of water comes out. It's usually dark or dirty water at first, not the kind that you would drink or clean things with. You have to clean out the junk in the pump first if it hasn't been used in a while. And to do that you keep pumping. And finally the water that comes out of that pump is clean and pure and exactly what you wanted.
What does this have to do with anything?
Well, the idea of "priming the pump" is a great one to keep in mind when working towards your dreams. It's important not to give up just because you don't see any results at first. Those are the first few pumps. Keep pumping. Keep moving forward. Keep all your focus on what you want. The energy of your desire will build up inside of you like the air pressure inside the pump. What you focus on will condense from an ephemeral figment of your imagination, into greater and greater materiality. Eventually, results will come into your life. The dream will manifest as your reality. It may not be perfect at first. The junk that's inside has to clean itself out first. Keep pumping. Keep moving forward. Continue until the pure water of your desire flows abundantly into your life.
If you have no idea where to start, just do whatever comes to mind. Start anywhere. Do something. Find the information you need to get moving in the right direction. And make whatever corrections you need to do along the way.
As multi-millionaire business coach Mike Litman always says, "you don't have to get it right, you just have to get it going".
Get going, get moving, start pumping now.
And remember, you can become anything you can imagine. Imagine the ideal man, or the ideal woman, and know that what you consider to be ideal is what you secretly are. It is who you really are, deep down inside. So go with it.
Who knows, the flow may be greater and more delicious than you ever imagined.
Get going, and keep going.
Charles
P.S. Hey, not bad for starting out without knowing what to write...right?

The Ideal Man - The Ideal Woman
As I was preparing my text for a radio presentation on the subject, I kept thinking about how important this subject seems to me and how it can potentially have a huge impact on others. Both men and women.
So what's the suject?
How to be a REAL man.
Now why would I say that this would have a huge impact on both men and women? Simple. Real men are attractive to women, especially REAL women and this makes both the man and the woman happy. Actually, real men and real women are attractive to all men and women, regardless of sexual preference.
What?
Let me explain. Since I have been thinking about this topic, I have come to realise that what constitutes a REAL man and a REAL woman are actually the exact same characteristics. You see, what we all generally think about when we think a perfect person are things like:
Beauty/Handsomeness
Strength of Character / Courage
Humour /Joy /Fun
Love /Caring
Wisdom /Intelligence
Health /Physical Strength
Honesty /Integrity
Wealth / Prosperity
And we usually add things like security, freedom, great in bed, has nice feet/straight teeth...ect.
And these things are applicable to both men and women. The thing is, men place more emphasis on some characteristics, and women place more emphasis on others. And this varies from person to person.
Now, ask yourself these questions:
What characteristics would the ideal man have?
and
What characteristics would the ideal woman have?
If you are a man (or want to be one) use this question to define and clarify what kind of a man you desire to become, and start moving in that direction. If you are a woman (or want to be one) use your definition of the ideal woman to steer you into becoming that woman. Your answer to this is what you desire, deep inside of you, so listen to what comes up from those depths.
For the second part of this exercise, you can figure out what kind of a person you think your ideal partner would be. Just make sure to focus on the personality characteristics, and not the physical or material characteristics, because you never know in what external form your ideal partner will take, and you must remain open to anything. There may even never be just one ideal partner. It could be a few, or many, partners who teach you all that you are here to learn. Just make sure that you pay attention.
And you can also list what you love about your current partner, if you have one. This allows you to focus on the good, to attract more of what you love.
All in all, it can be a very powerful thing to ask yourself what makes a man, a man? And what makes a woman, a woman? It is even more powerful to then ask yourself what kind of a man, or woman, you desire to be.
What is your ideal?
That is what you desire to be.
So be.
Become that.
"Be the change you want to see in this world," as Gandhi used to say.
